now and again, when i get the urgency and run to use the loo sometimes i get this horrendous pain. It only lasts about 5 to 10 seconds, the first time i had it i screamed but now i find my self breathing/panting through it so my daughter doesnt hear me and get worried. i cant even discribe the pain in detail, its a sharpe pain i know that. Anyone had this?

Sounds like what I think of a bowel spasm. Does it feel like a sharpish charley horse pain in your bowels? If so, there are antispasmotic medications you can try. I was prescribed one that you put under your tongue which is supposed to give quick relief. Darn, but I can't recall its name. There was just a thread about antispasmotics that might give you some ideas or perhaps, if you call you doctor they could set you up with something.
UC diagnosed 10/05, first symptoms 1983
asacol 12/daily and rowasa as needed
Trying out Culturelle Probiotic
past rx: colozal, lialda, canasa
i can't complain, but sometimes i still do.  lifes been good to me so far.  -joe walsh

Yes, I used to get that pain. I haven't had that in quite a while - thank God! Are you flaring and having symptoms right now? If so, what are your meds? What is the extent of your Uc?
