I know you use warm compresses to get rid of styes but is there a faster way?? I woke up the other day with one - at least I think it's one and not a cyst which I am prone to have.  It didn't start hurting and get puffy until today.

Well, a stye is just a pimple. So you can get rid of it in the same way. Locate it, and squeeze. It can be tricky though depending on where in your eyelid its located.

Ow ow ow!!!! I hate those! I usually get a washcloth wet with really hot water and put it on my eye. I think the difference between a cyst and a stye is that styes hurt a lot and the cysts don't? Mine never come to a head so I don't pop it...besides that would really hurt! Just make sure not to touch it and then touch another part of the eye and spread it.

I hope it heals fast :)

I had a large cyst removed from my upper eyelid several years ago and yep it hurt! lol My eye swelled up so bad that it looked like I went a round with Mike Tyson. So I had to see an opthmalogist to have it removed. I am hoping that it's not another cyst. I have been using a warm washcloth, I was just hoping that there was an easier and faster remedy out there. I really don't want to be dealing with this right now!

Don't pop it!!! Let a stye drain on its own. It's best not to squeeze it yourself, it may cause a more severe infection at the infection site or on another follicle/oil gland within the eye.

Here are the only non-medication treatments for styes I know of:
A warm tea bag compress could help.
Mix 1 tsp of coriander seeds with a cup of water and then boil it. Use this mixture as a eye wash 3-4 times a day.
A grated potato used as a poultice around the infected area.

If the stye does not go away within a week or so see your eye doctor to get some antibiotics/drops to avoid later complications.

Don't wear eye make-up or contact lenses until the stye heals. Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks, I will try to tea bag to see if it helps. I went out to lunch today with my gma and she said she used to get styes all the time and her mother had her use the tea bag.

Yep, I was going to suggest a tea bag too. I had one in my teens and I remember using a tea bag.
