Sorry this is going to be a bit graphic. I really need some advice from the only people that can relate.

I have been having frequent bathroom trips for months but otherwise doing ok. If I have any formed stool, it is very skinny but they are not often, generally just D. The last few days have been horrible. I have been having really bad pain in my lower left side that is hard to explain but like an intense constant gas pain and like pressure in my bottom. Since yesterday I have had loose, watery bowel movements but it feels like I'm constipated and have to strain for only a small amount. I feel like I have to go but then not much comes and I have to work for a little bit. There's no blood in my stool, just when wiping obviously from going too much. I have a low grade fever, so I don't think it could be an infection. I keep breaking out in a sweat and vomiting but I think it is from the pain. When I feel the sensation to go, I'm on the pot with a bucket because I have to vomit then too. I was up through the night vomiting, crying from the pain and almost made my husband take me to the er. The pain doesn't feel as intense today and I have only vomited twice. I brought myself down to a liquid diet today and am hoping this will help.

Do any of you have any suggestions or an idea of what the heck is going on? I can't think of anything I could have ate to give me problems. Besides, I have never had these symptoms before.

Thanks for any help!

I would think at first you're flaring plus you have caught a gastro bug. Definitely have stool samples done.

What meds are you on? If you aren't , you might want to reconsider sooner than later.

I would personally suggest not going on prednisone, but trying the 5ASA meds if you can.

Do make sure you take probiotics...maybe don't consider the ones that are enteric coated.

If you have rectal meds..start them now.

Do see the doc.

I feel for you..hope you get better soon and that if it is a gastro bug that no one else in your family gets it!

You need some real meds. Maybe you have the flu?!
I hope you can avoid the ER, it's a miserable place and $$ and you won't be high priority. I hope your regular doc found time for you. If not, I hope you can rest this weekend.
Stop taking the vitamins? they are actually pretty harsh on your gut.
49 year old female attorney, diagnosed UC/pancolitis 1985, no surgery but much suffering.
Asacol/5ASA 6x400 mg maintenance for 20+ years; use prednisone & Rowasa for flares.
August 2008 sought care of naturopathic doctor. Food sensitivity test showed gluten, other intolerances; started diet without gluten, soy, dairy, tomato etc. Replete probiotic first, then Forte pills.
Achieved remission for the first time in many, many years!? Seemed so, but colonoscopy Oct. 6 proved not so, heavy inflammation in ascending colon & will be using Rowasa again. But I AM better.

I meant intestinal or stomach "flu"
I had it last year and it was AWFUL, AWFUL. I lost 8 pounds overnight!

That sounds a lot like the salmonella I had last year. Neither I nor the health department could ever figure out what I might have eaten to give it to me, either (and I was part of a well-investigated outbreak). Get a stool culture.
