Hi I've been haveing some problems lately with my ulcertive colitis.  I've been off the steriods for almost three weeks now and lately I have been having blood in my stools.  But the blood is red and comes after the stool has passed.  My stools are somewhat formed, and I am also taking humera and methodrexate.  my question is does this sound like a flare or hemroids.  I'm kind of hoping that its hemroids cause I really dont want to go back on the steriods.

or a fissure. You could consider to use Anusol hcl or hydrocortisone suppositories or hydrocortisone cream.

Blood in your stools won't likely be from a fissure...yes fissures can bleed but small ones will cause hardly noticable if noticable at all, bleeding, it's bigger/deeper fissures that would cause noticable bleeding but that bleeding would likely be dripping into the toilet and/or be on the TP, not in the actual stool itself though...and you'd know if you had a larger/deep fissure compared to a small one(s).

the OP did say the blood was after stool has passed...so, it's possible it's a fissure.

A look-see could definitely be in your plans..either yourself (yep, squatting over a mirror) or get the doc to take a look.

If it was a fissure then jordanko would know it, even with tiny fissures and no blood from them can be horribly painful, let alone one that causes bleeding.

mine aren't horribly painful....so, that needn't be a determining factor in whether it is or not.

And we can't take a look to prove it one way or the other. shocked

Oh, smilies for you pb4. turn smilewinkgrin

Because jordanko does not mention any pain in the anal area at all is one of the biggest reasons I don't think it's fissure(s) because I know that they don't have to be horribly painful, but they do have a distinctive kind of pain.

Besides which, the bleeding could very much just be part of a flare and nothing more.

Smilies back at ya Q :) :) :)

It could be a fissure i would go to the doctors and make sure everything is fine before putting cream on. Because it could make it worse. Either way i would try to avoid TP if it gets worse. Sits baths always work well. Hope you get better.
