Ok.... I am having my 1st colonoscopy on Thursday of next week

I have my instructions and kit for the big event!

Here are my questions:

At 4pm..... I drink my 32 oz. of powder and water plus the 16 oz of "my choice of clear fluid" ....
At 8pm...... DITTO

1. Between 4 and 8 pm....can I drink anything else????????

2. Do I take my evening dose of Asacol ?

3. Do I take my morning dose of prednisone and asacol?

4. Can i drink anything in the morning?

5. Should I be on fluids for a couple of days before hand or just the day before?

Thanks so much for any help with this!

I'm surprised that your GI's office didn't give you more detail. So lets see, yes you can drink clear liquids only during the day before the scope (even in between the doses). Nothing with red or blue dyes. If you are really hungry you can eat jello, once again, no red or blue dye. Yes you take your evening dose of Asacol but you may not feel like it because you may not be able to keep it in and it may just get flushed down the toilet. As for the pred, that you need to ask your doc. But no meds the morning of.

Good luck! The prep is the hardest part of any scope!

Thanks Sherry!
I am nervous but happy to finally be getting this done
We have been assuming UC or Crohn's since my "diagnosis" in August.
Hopefully this will shed some light as to what the heck is going on in there!
