Okay....

I have had nothing but organge jello and water today

I am due to start my MoviPrep in 30 minutes and am scared to death!

I have never had a colonoscopy or prep before and am scared about how the prep will go.

Any suggestions to make the drink more tolerable would be appreciated!

I also have a pounding headache...is it okay to take tylenol today????

My colonoscopy is at 10:30 am on Thursday

Thanks
Michelle

Tylenol is okay, they just say not to take things like aspirin or ibuprofen because of bleeding. I took Tylenol the night before my procedure as well because I felt like my head was going to explode. I think it was mainly from the dehydration.

I've never had the MoviPrep but I've heard it's one of the better ones I think. Unfortunately, there are very few things to make a prep tolerable. First thing, it's better cold. Second, drink it with a straw. Sometimes I get sick of the straw and just try to chug as much as I can but it's tough. Usually if I pretend it's like an alcoholic beverage and do it in shots it goes a little quicker, haha.
But basically, just plug your nose and drink it as fast as you can. It also helps to have another drink on the side as a "chaser".

OH and do NOT mix it with your favorite drink because I can almost gaurantee that you will never, ever want to drink it again.

Good luck and keep us posted! :)

I wouldn't worry, it's not painful, just really annoying. The only pain you may be in is your butt will burn after awhile, from going to the bathroom so much. If you take a warm bath that tends to help, or if you have any cream lying around. But when you're actually going to the bathroom, it usually comes out so easily because it's just liquid so it literally just pours out (sorry, TMI) as opposed to the usual UC bathroom trips.

I usually feel a little weird, I think it's because it's a saline drink and then coupled with the dehydration, I feel tired and kind of out of it. But just drink as much clear liquids as you can to try to help with the dehydration and you should be fine. And then tomorrow, you'll have the scope and that's the best part - you get a nice anesthesia nap! And you'll wake up and you can eat an awesome lunch and it'll be all over :)

Thanks.... I just finished my 1st 32 oz......it wasnt that bad....the last gulp I gagged...but managed okay
I have have already gone to the bathroom 3 times...and yet...it burned a little

At least I have a "break" since I dont drink my next 32oz for 2 1/2 hrs......

I have to drink my clear fluids now

This sucks!

THanks again.... Hopefully my colonoscopy will give a better idea as to what is going on "up there". Originally thought UC but Dr. is now leaning towards Crohns....

Good luck on the scope :) Yes the prep is by far the worse! I just wished they could make cleaning out a bit easier or tastier anyway.

One other trick to try getting the nasty stuff down is to hold a piece of cut lemon under your nose.  I have always gaged and thrown up the stuff, but tues I did my prep and drank it thru a straw with a piece of lemon under my nose and I got most of it down.  Good luck tomorrow.
