Steroid suppositories??

As you can see I am using Protofoam which has about 1% steroids.  I cannot take or use mesalamine medications.  Does anyone have a suggestion I would bring up to my doctor for a suppository that has steroids.  Proctofoam is not staying in - at least not much of it - due to gas, etc.  I have used Canasa and they stayed in so good.  I would like to be getting more medication to the rectal area than I am.  Still having mucous and tiny bit of blood and discomfort.

New diagnosed with proctosigmoiditis - 6/2008
 Colonoscopy 10/28 showed only 2 cm. left to heal in rectum - going to try Proctofoam first.
Probiotic Align, Prilosec for GERD
Inderol for hypertension,Xanax,Lipitor, multivitamin, calcium w/D, Tylenol

Hi Elaine, I'm taking a steroid suppository; I think it goes by the names of Anucort or Anusol and it is 25 mg steroid.

If I remember correctly, Cortifoam has 8x more steroid than Proctofoam; Cortifoam also has more steroid than Anucort/sol.

9 Asacol, Rowasa, 1000 mg Canasa, Proctofoam, Rifaximin 2/day

     How about cort enemas?  I took them while flaring.

Update 11/03/08...finally in remission!!  Hope I don't jinx myself.  Off the prednisone since 11/01/08...now see if I can stay off for longer than two weeks.  Other meds: 6MP (75 mgm), colazal (6 per day), Benicar and Toprol (high blood pressure meds), Probiotic (2 per day), fish oil capsule and multi-vitamin and calcium with vitamin D.

Thanks!  Enemas are difficult for me too but the Canasa I used for while stayed in - just found I could not use them because they are 4ASA medication.  I can put in and keep in suppositories really well until morning so thought a suppository with steroids would be a good idea.
