As you can see I am using Protofoam which has about 1% steroids.  I cannot take or use mesalamine medications.  Does anyone have a suggestion I would bring up to my doctor for a suppository that has steroids.  Proctofoam is not staying in - at least not much of it - due to gas, etc.  I have used Canasa and they stayed in so good.  I would like to be getting more medication to the rectal area than I am.  Still having mucous and tiny bit of blood and discomfort.

Hi Elaine, I'm taking a steroid suppository; I think it goes by the names of Anucort or Anusol and it is 25 mg steroid.

If I remember correctly, Cortifoam has 8x more steroid than Proctofoam; Cortifoam also has more steroid than Anucort/sol.

Thanks!  Enemas are difficult for me too but the Canasa I used for while stayed in - just found I could not use them because they are 4ASA medication.  I can put in and keep in suppositories really well until morning so thought a suppository with steroids would be a good idea.
