Hi just wanted to know does UC always has loose stools and stomach pain? i have none of these, instead i hv constipation(sometimes) and little blood with stool, BM is once a day in morning. Mucus is the main concern which is 2-3 times a day- i get mucus whenever i go to restroom during the day. whenever muscus increases on any day i feel slight discomfort in walking or sitting-feels little swollen. I m having gas problem mostly after afternoon.
i dnt think it is IBS as IBS never has blood, and i do hv blood. i have noticed when i m tensed the blood increases.

Any form if intestinal irritation, not just inflamamtion, will generate mucus. Blood could also be from hemorhoids, internal or external, or something other than IBD. Have you had any scopes done?

My UC started with mucus alone....whenever I went to the bathroom or passed gas.  It then escalated rapidly...diarrhea, stomach discomfort, loss of weight and bleeding.

Update 11/03/08...finally in remission!!  Hope I don't jinx myself.  Off the prednisone since 11/01/08...now see if I can stay off for longer than two weeks.  Other meds: 6MP (75 mgm), colazal (6 per day), Benicar and Toprol (high blood pressure meds), Probiotic (2 per day), fish oil capsule and multi-vitamin and calcium with vitamin D.
