hi folks- I was just down at the library & saw this newly published book by Mount Sinai Hospital- "Crohns & Colitis Diet Guide". It includes 150 recipes. I'm not one for Crohns/UC "diets", per se, but I can always use the meal planning help! I'll let you know how it is.

Asacol- 8 tabs/day
Remicade-10mgs/kg- since 4/07
Imuran- 150mgs/day

Thanks.  I have the book:  Mount Sinai Hospital Crohns and Colitis, understanding and managing IBD.  Good to know that they have come out with a Diet book.

Hi, I am teddybearweiser, I am a male.
I was diagnosed with crohns disease when i was admitted to the hospital

in 1992, in Jan of 1993 I was back in the hospital for surgery for my crohns. I had part of my right colon resectioned with ilecolonstomy.

My GI doctor has me on Asacol, Dicyclomine,Imuran,Celebrex and Remicade. B-12 injection once a month.
Also diagnosed with Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

yeah, it's pretty much your "typical" UC book as far as the disease info goes- there are chapters explaining what UC/Crohns is, how it's diagnosed, current treatments, etc. None of this will be new information for most of us here! But the recipes are quite good- there are a lot of them, from brkfst to dessert, beverages included. And each recipe has info on pertinent nutritional facts, if the dish is high/low fiber, what specific nutrients good for UC/Crohns is in it, if the dish is good for eating while flaring, etc. I bookmarked at least half a dozen to photocopy. I grab up every UC diet/recipe book I see, especially from the library!
