I take it that you weren't getting any better at the 40 mgm dosage? That is what my doctor started me at when my flare resumed after my taking the prednisone for the better part of six months. Before that, he usually started me at 30 mgm with slow taper. However, the 30 just didn't seem to do the trick. So, I took the 40 mgm for one week, with tapering 10 mgm every week thereafter until I got down to 10 mgm, then I dropped to 5 mgm for another week and then 5 mgm every other day for another week. Hopefully, along with the 6 MP which finally kicked in, my long flare (7 months) has subsided. I've been off the prednisone one month today.
