Saw this article today and it made me laugh. My boyfriend laughs at my neurotic nature of keeping things around me clean...

Interesting perspective...don't know if I agree with it, but my head might not be wrapped around that perspective yet.

Interestingly, I feel more "human" after I brush my teeth and shower/groom, etc....maybe doesn't fit, but just wanted to throw that in.

Must go wash my hands...that might help. lol!

I agree with you quincy, my boyfriend thinks I'm crazy because even if I'm just getting up to go to the store and nowhere else, I'll shower, put on makeup, deoderant, brush my teeth, etc and he's like "We're just going down the street for a few minutes!!" But I feel weird and self conscious until I do all these things. Like I don't feel awake and into it enough unless I'm showered and have makeup on my face.

I need to start carrying lotion with me though, my hands are sooo dry because I wash them 500 times a day.

Ha, I'll have to show him this article because I'm constantly teased about my Clorox wipes and the neatness I **enjoy** around the house! Hee hee. Not sure if I agree with the theory either Quincy, but it gave me a good giggle....I'm off to wash my hands too!

I don't know exactly how many times I wash my hands..depends on what I touch. For sure before I prepare food, during, before I eat, after touching the cat, bathroom..lol! I definitely do so after I get home from anywhere.

LOL ediekristin....there are occasions my husband says I'm WalMart or Zellers worthy...meaning my hair is perfectly flat at the back and I look like I just got up. I could never do that..

Carol...you know that any books I get home from the store or even borrow from the library or from anyone else gets a bit of an alcohol wipe before I'll set it down at home. Nice they make covers with the plastic coating now.

Interesting article nonetheless...maybe those who don't wash don't think themselves worthy of being clean? Therefore would be more judgemental.

This recent study summarized in The Economist suggested the very opposite http://www.economist.com/science/displaystory.cfm?story_id=12630193 ... essettially the idea being that cleaning allows us to feel like we can wipe away and rationalize our immoral behaviour. As a fan of the hygiene hypothesis for auto-immune conditions and IBD- namely that it has been our elimination of not just the bad, but also the good co-resident bacteria and parasites in our bodies that have helped bring on the epidemics in diabetes, obesity, auto-immune conditions, etc., I lean towards keeping some dirt, but when I see people leave bathrooms without washing up, I draw the line there for certain.

Probiotic, that is too funny. I have to wonder about some of these studies the "experts" do; guess we'll believe whatever fits us best. I'm not sure which immoralities I need to wipe away, but hey, who knows! I do know I love to dig in the dirt so I'm getting my "dirt" from there too.

I am not a fan of the "pee and leave" type folks either...
