Dakota,

Good article, thank you. I have never bought a "colon cleansing" product because I was so leary. And I have never researched it, but this article confirmed my "gut" instinct!

It's the same with douching, women should never douch because it puts the vagina at risks of infection, our vaginas naturally cleans itself and douching does nothing good, only bad...it also disturbs the natural bacterial flora in the vagina, it irritates the lining of the vagina which makes it more prone to infections.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)

No one who has active IBD needs any help "cleansing."

OTOH, "healthy" people with poor diets who are chronically constipated might benefit from a gentle cleansing regimen. From what I've read, it's the extreme colonic irrigations that have the most risk for screwing up bowel ecology.
Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis spring 1999.

Maintenance dose sulfasalazine.
Probiotics, l-glutamine and fish oil caps. George's aloe vera juice. Oregano oil antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal. Long-term remission with only minor blips.
