We are sooooo blessed in so many ways, and my awesome 77 year old mom reinforced that today!  Yes, I was feeling sorry for myself - neauseated, D, back pains, neck pains, left arm hurt, joints ache, you know the whole works.  I told her I was sooo tired of this mess.  She was incredibly understanding and told me how much we are alike both mentally and physically.  She told me that while she never had UC or CD she has always had IBS and alot of the same pains.  But she said, you know what Holly (my real name), we have life and thru all of our aches and pains we still need to push forward and relish in life because we truly are here for such a short time!  Oh she is so right and I am so blessed to still have such wonderful parents.  This comes from a lady who lost her first born 10 yrs ago to brain cancer and she still continues to have a positive outlook - man she put me in my place and I'm proud!

Ok, I'm done braggin on my awesome mom and dad!

Holly, you are truly blessed.  Cherish every moment you can with your dear parents.  I lost mine back in 95 (dad) and mom 11 months later in March of 96.  They were both in their early 80's, but I don't think we are ever ready to let them go.  Dad suffered from mesothelioma for only three months, but we didn't know what it was at the time.  He took care of mom for the better part of ten years...she had heart disease, arthritis, kidney disease (on dialysis for two years before her death) and diabetes.  Here, he went before she did.  She moved in with us but only lasted for another 11 months because she really missed dad..they were married 58 yrs.
Your mom is right.  Every day we have on this earth is a gift.  There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss them.

Update 11/03/08...finally in remission!!  Hope I don't jinx myself.  Off the prednisone since 11/01/08...now see if I can stay off for longer than two weeks.  Other meds: 6MP (75 mgm), colazal (6 per day), Benicar and Toprol (high blood pressure meds), Probiotic (2 per day), fish oil capsule and multi-vitamin and calcium with vitamin D.

Oh, Christine, your mom and dad had a wonderful love affair and family! My parents will be married 57 years December 16th and I still catch Dad patting Mom and the bottom - too cute! Yes, I do cherish every moment I have w/ them and I dread the day when I can't talk w/ them on the phone or in person or give them a hug! I know the day will be here, but I will look up in the sky and talk with them as I do with my sister, Pam! We are fortunate to have a close family! Sounds like you were too!

You know what? Sometimes we just need someone to remind us of what is truly important in our lives. It sounds like you have an awesome mom and brag all you want! :)
