Hello everyone! Havent been around in a while. (2yrs or so) UC has been in remission for over a year without anything but exercise (mainly chasing our 16 month old around ), good diet, and low stress. However thanks to our economy I lost my job the Friday after Thanksgiving. Well the stress of that along with my wife being in gradschool and jobless my friend UC showed his ugly head...Anyway I have always have had good luck with Remicade but its so exspensive. So I asked my doc about Humira. I would love some info from anyone that has used Humira.

I've been on Humira for about 8 weeks. I was previously on Remicade and that eventually failed. I'm not sure I'm the perrson to talk to regarding Humira. It is less expensive but it's always a gamble as to if it works. I'm thinking it's not really working for me. I'm in a flare and have been for probably 12 weeks. I'm taking 5mg Prednisone, 75mg Imuran, 12 Asacol a day, and Humira shots weekly. It feels like it's "holding" me where I am but to be honest, I almost think it's the Imuran.

I will tell you the shots burn. It's not unbearable but the medicine burns going in and the hole is sensitive for about 10 minutes after. I'm a nurse so I can handle most shots, but these make me wince. Of course, if it means no more UC... Just so you know what to expect. Hope everything works out for you. It's tough when life seems to get things going for you and then you spend tons of time trying to get yourself calmed down again!

Good Luck!

Humira is a Godsend for me. It really helps. I've been taking it for close to 1 1/2 years. It is the best drug that helped put me in remission real fast. There are many other postings about Humira, it's a hot topic. I really don't know what else to say about it. I'm just thankful for the medicine. I was on Remicade before I started Humira, and it was free for me, then switched to Humira, and I have to pay for it. But.... if it keeps me in remission I'm going for it.
