I was on entocort for 6 weeks and still had blood. Then I was on prednisone for 1 month and still had blood. I am just on Asacol and I am waiting to see what my GI will do next. I am really not sure. One GI just told me that the blood will be normal. What do you think?
27m - Dx January 2005 and given 80mg Prednisone to taper off and 12 tablets of Asacol

Blood isn't normal. Your doctor could have meant that it is normal to have blood when tapering off prednisone (that is if you were tapering off of it). If I remember correctly, prednisone produces cortisone to help reduce inflammation. As a result of the higher level of cortisone, the body produces less cortisol. The lower level of cortisol results in greater inflammation when the cortisone is reduced. It takes awhile for the body to adjust. That's why it's difficult to get off of prednisone. The blood comes back when the medication is reduced.

Blood is a symptom of flaring with UC....but not all UC flares bleed.
It's "normal" with some flares that are at a certain point of inflammation, but one should have the "normal" state of bleeding explained rather than it left to one's imagination.

Bleeding with no explanation is not normal, however....

you should really have been started on the 5ASA meds, oral and rectal.

I cannot stress how much you need to do the research on meds used for UC.

Do you know what I mean by 5ASA meds?
