Sometimes it just seems the world likes to pile the stress on. Wife got "let go" today. Half our salary is now gone, and she carried our family insurance through very nice group health plan. I know how alot of others are feeling now. It's really hard to stay focused on the positive sometimes. I am trying though so my UC don't go nuts...........

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I hope you are able to get by, and that she finds something else soon, maybe something better! What field is she in?

My husband was laid off from a telecom company last year, and now he is finally doing what he always wanted to do: teaching. He loves it. Although it's only part time so far, so I better not lose my job! I worry about it since I have been laid off before, and have to talk to myself through it. It is really doubtful I would... but I worry.

It's a bad time, but it will pass. Try to do what you need to do to stay healthy!

She was an account exec for home health care agency. They work with hospitals and doctor's offices regionally, and she is the 3rd let go in past 5 months. They are evidently downsizing and spreading their people out. It's a rather tough spot since I am in midst of opening a clinic, and have no real income atm. She just came off pregnancy leave and today was her first day back, only to get fired. Gave her two months severance package though. My goal with the new office was to cover both our salaries so she could quit and stay home with the baby, but this was a little too quick lol.

Oh no! Not something you want to deal with and right before Christmas too! Merry Christmas - here now go to unemployment. I hate when companies do that! :(

Her company was quite gutsy - she could claim it was retaliation for using her maternity leave. Was she in the proper line of seniority for a lay off or does it seem fishy?
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

That's why they give severance, to avoid nuisance lawsuits. You can't have both.
I hope all works out in the end.

Sorry to hear this Dr-A, and yes, this time of yr makes it especially hard, but keep your chin up, when one door closes another door opens and hopefully it will be a better door to go through so think positive.
