So I thought I would post up a light hearted topic for everyone to discus and hopefully entertain...

How come, even tho for last 3 days I have eaten nothing but plain boiled white rice... my poo is still brown (excluding blood)?

what goes in white, comes out brown... its amazing, I am a creator of brown!

It is the bile that actually turns stools brown in color.

That happened to me too when I ate plain rice. Try adding turmeric to it to help the inflammation.

subduded what happened to you too when you ate plain rice? It came out brown as well? That's because it's bile that actually turns stool brown in color, it happens to everyone that eats white rice, it comes out brown.

Of course poo is brown--not unless you eat something like licorice that is. I meant that I ate only plain rice for three days and my poo was still brown with blood. My condition didn't improve until I added turmeric to the rice. Now I have brown poo, but without the blood. Try adding turmeric to the rice and see if that helps.

Haha, thanks guys, good knowledge!

I'm finding that eating nothing but rice makes my BM's very very watery... I may add turmeric if I keep going with this, but to be honest, after only a few days I am ready to give up on this, as I'm not feeling better, and am not liking the watery BM's.

I definately think I poo out more than I eat. Not sure where it comes from. Maybe we don't have UC... maybe our bodies are just poo hatcheries? The little bit of food we eat creates poo and then the poos multiply? LOL

The large intestine is about 5 feet long and you have to think of it like a snake. Our waste material goes into the large intestine. Once it's there, it slithers along like a snake. It's usually liquid waste when it enters the LI and as it goes along, the LI absorbs the liquid. And typically when it reaches the rectum, all the liquid is mostly gone and it creates a solid waste. So regardless how much you eat, it's always going to produce waste. In our case because our LI are dysfunctional, it moves along at a faster rate then normal and that produces D because the LI doesn't have a chance to absorb the liquid. But digested food is always present in our body because it takes approximately 12-72 hours for the food to process. So even if you eat very little one day, you are really pooing out yesterdays meals. So yep, everyone is filled with poo! :)

Not to mention, take into consideration how much/little poop comes out at each visit to the can...for myslef I notice when flaring moderately to severe I poop much more often but typically smaller amounts come out at a time, when doing better and having larger poops at a time I poop less often so one must consider how much is comming out when they're pooping frequently too.

And for me the strangest thing is I've noticed that sometimes when I eat less it seems like I poop more compared to if I eat more, it doesn't always work that way of course but I've noticed it enough times to make note of that strange pattern.

plus maybe what we eat during flaring has an impact on what it looks like when it comes out.
