Yes....flaring!!!      sad

I really need to vent because it's never just one thing ....my temper and attitude totally suck.

I'm sick again for the 3rd time in two months with  the start of another virus/cold/laryngitis (my upper chest feels like it's on fire)  probably caught from my husband.  With that and being so busy for the past week, I now had the priviledge to once again experience the white-knuckling poos.     3 times in the morning, 5 times throughout the evening/early morning.  I'm exhausted and humbled once again.

Being at every 5th  night of butt meds was nice while it lasted...but I should have stayed at every 3rd night (whenever that was) considering the festive season.  So, back to nightly..sigh.

One thing is for sure...I've never gone through the Christmas season without some degree of flaring because I'm always sick from something else either before or during .     Which really is frustrating  and a total downer.....

I see Christmas either by myself or with just my husband if he gets any worse.

OH OH OH!!! smurf

Heather, vent away all you want. I know how unfair in can seem...even around the holidays no less! Hang in there and hopefully the nightly enemas will get rid of those white knucklers for you. And I hope your cold gets better. Can you take zinc?

Feel better soon, Heather! The holiday season always brings out the best and worst at the same time. When you feel better, try to mark down on next year's calendar to maybe up your maintenance meds around Halloween or Thanksgiving to possibly ward off a holiday flare.

I am with you.  I have been flaring for so long, I don't remember life without a flare. Last year the flare was barely an issue, I used canasa and I was alright but now - this is much worse. I am feeling a lot better with the meds but I am not 100% and a few days ago my doctor called about my drastically low bloodwork and I thought I would end up in a hospital. I have been taking iron and I hope it helps. I don't have insurace, if I have to go to the hospital, it will wipe me out financially. Talk about stress...

Have a merry xmas. I hope the flare isn't too bad and that your chest congestion feels better soon. Breathe deep and try to take it easy. I am always all wound up and it only makes me worse. cry

Hi Heather,

I'm sorry you're not feeling good, If you can sip some warm tea (preferrably chammamile or tension tamer work well for the whole body) with honey. Girl, I know how you feel, I'm in the same boat about the holidays. You've been there for all of us, I don't usually see a post about yourself that much, so I'm surprised that you're not feeling well. You're a great support to all of us, hang in there!

I am really sorry to hear you are not feeling good - nature of this disease I think is that we never know!!  Try to have as good a holiday as possible.

You know last year my husband was doing chemo for lung cancer and we did not know if he would be here this year - so thankful just that he is in remission - look at the positives if you can!!

Thanks for the get well wishes everyone! It helps a lot!

I do take zinc which I upped as my last cold (no, two colds ago)..vitamin C, I've started Omega 3 a month ago again, beta carotene forever, vitamin D, sheesh, But I was taking Cold FX, L-Lysine to hopefully keep colds at bay..(maybe I would have been worse without, but will never know) possibly too much immune stimulation?
I also used some Zicam..it's got sucralose in it, but since I'm flaring I don't care. I'd take a flare over a cold anyday..truthfully.

I don't have chamomile tea..maybe an ativan and normal tea could work ..heehee.

Since I'm totally pooped out after last night, this morning was easier, but by this evening I'm sure yesterday's processed meals will be coming 'round..lol!).

My husband got me some chicken soup to soothe the savage beast. I think he feels guilty. OK, for a while I'll let him feel that ;-)

Hope you all have a great Christmas celebration no matter how you feel.

Cheers to the butt meds.....until they fail us!

Oh, my mind was in high gear during sleep....I dreamed my car was stolen 3 times in one night..I'm definitely feeling a loss of control. I woke up without finding my car, but I did find my gloves...haha.

Can't wait for the turkey supper care package tomorrow night!

Take care all!

Hope you are feeling better. I always use the Zicam swabs - I think they help the symptoms and shorten and cold. So far they have worked pretty good.
BUT - I rarely get a cold and hardly ever from family - so hope I did not jink myself there!
Happy Holiday!

Hey Quincy....sorry you are feeling so poorly. I'm hoping the white knuckles disappear for you asap and that virus and flare take a hike. Not fun, but glad to hear that you will be getting a turkey care package...that sounds yummy! Go for that soup and perhaps some peppermint tea? Ah, wish I could be there to make you some... but for now it will have to be cyberspace tea. Here's to ya' my friend. Take care and feel better soon.

I'm feeling a bit better as of now...the soup was good and truly hit the spot! I don't have peppermint tea, so I'll take it virtually!! mmmm...soothing ;-) I must put that on the list anyway.

Potty breaks were minimal, thankfully...I see how well the Metamucil works..lol!

I'm actually looking forward to a quiet day alone, regardless of it being Christmas...the care package, I'm looking forward to.

Thanks again for the well wishes...take care and have a blessed and happy Christmas celebration.

Wierd about the dream thing...I've had the same dream about my house being broken into or someone just walking in, as well as the back door not shutting properly. The back door on the house where I grew up (after I left home) didn't shut properly and I think that's where it's from...always seemingly unresolved and vulnerable.

I'm not doing so good today..5 x to the toilet with the butt convulsions and the last time the worst with just a bit of stuff mixed with blood (not surprised considering how many times I've gone this morning). doesn't seem from a fissure as there is NO blood on the tp. I don't think I have internal hemmies...so, I'm going with flare bleeding. I haven't done so for sooooooooo long, sigh.

Oh, the agony...LOL!

I'm also losing my voice now again...well, no one to hear me in an empty house anyway.

I work as a mobile hairdresser...I have about 35 clients at this time and could have more if I wanted. I have the opportunity to do sign language interpreting, but I've now decided to close the door on that considering how much I've been sick this past fall/winter and now flaring. It's a much more stressful job, and the washrooms are public and I don't do well working if I'm sick with a cold/laryngitis (which I seem prone to as of late). I won't have as much control over scheduling, although, it would be fairly flexible regarding dates. So, I'm sticking with the hairdressing.

This flare has hit me quickly and hard considering I haven't been like this for a very long while....I mention humbling because I worry that the liver disease I have may start its activity with flaring (but that's my own concern and haven't searched for proof in literature). It's difficult to not get wrapped up in the possibilities when I feel sorry for myself.

Regardless...I'll enjoy the quiet day once the meds to ease the discomfort kick in.

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the support!

Merry Christmas, ho, ho, ho! Quincy, I'm sorry that you took sick right at holiday time. Hopefully, you'll be feeling much better by New Year's. To cheer you up: a couple nights ago I dreamt that I received part of a c-scope report by snail-mail. It had my gastro's name on it, an October date, plus address of a suburban medical office. So, still in my dream, I phoned my gastro's office & inquired of the receptionist as to why I had received this document-- since I did not have any c-scope for a good while. I was put on "hold" for several minutes; then the receptionist came back on & said it was my gastro who had the c-scope in the suburban locale! Well, I woke up feeling very puzzled, thought the dream over for a few minutes, & burst out laughing!!!!!! (Probably my gastro would find it funny, too.) Take good care of yourself, eh? / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Hope you are feeling better this evening! Old Hat - great story. I also have some very weird dreams - over and over!
You know something - EVERY doctor (not just gastro) should have a c-scope at about age 25 or so - to be sure they understand about prep, etc.

Elaine...true for sure. I joked with my GI when I was just about on the table asking if as GI interns they had to do the c-scopes. He turned to me and said that was a pretty personal question. Hmmm, I was a bit ticked, but continued with clarifying that it would make me feel better if you suffered with the clean out as much as I did. That, by the way, was the time I used Fleet prep. Ugh.

Good story Old Hat...lol! Interesting what our minds create while we're in REM.
Hey, snail mail in my city was outrageously slow...it took 6 days for our cards to arrive to friends/family. I couldn't believe it!

I had a nice quiet afternoon/evening with my cat on my lap and me zonked out. What a picture that would have made..
I passed on the goodie bag from the in-laws...I didn't want to have anything since I already ate.

I've had a few mini poos, but I'm definitely feeling better at this moment....my throat is improving and I'm not getting worse, so that's good. The coughing is giving me a headache, and my husband's coughing is driving me absolutely crazy!

All in all...it was an OK day even if I missed the awesome Christmas turkey dinner.

Take care,
q

Well, the butt is much better, the cold is now a cough. It's exhausting, frustrating and causing a horrific headache. It never ends.

Any suggestions or the cough? I'm taking expectorant to keep the mucus from settling lower in my chest...it's "mobile"...but both my husband and I need other relief rather than from cough suppressants.

Would any mind to share their cough remedies.....please.....I hate colds.

Thanks.
