Unfortunately I never found anything that worked well to rid me of the pred headaches, so I kept up my water intake and tried to flush the pred out of my system as fast as I could.

Never had headaches from prednisone tapering.  You sure that is what they are from?

Yeah, I never get HA's except when going off this stuff. Then they're gone once I get through the mess. I always taper quick too, which I know I am not suppose to, but staying on this stuff is killing me. GI doc told me I need to stay on it another 3 months....... no, lol. Was at 20 mg last week, dropped to 10 mg two days ago, 5 mg yesterday and 5 mg today.

Dr-A,
You were not kidding when you said a quick taper.. lol. I had a hard time when I dropped 10mg and 5mg at a time so unfortunately I dropped 2.5mg at a time. Such time pills those were if they did not get crushed when I cut them. Luckily I have been off pred for 6 weeks now, thank god!!

Doctor  had me tapering 10 mgm a week too, but no side effects.  Had a friend with Crohn's who developed Addison's when she stopped her prednisone cold turkey though.

I haven't found anything that helps with the headaches either. Going down the 10mg was really hard to do, so I'm going to taper super slowly the next time I try. Maybe you could taper at a slower rate and the headaches may not be as severe. I'm sorry you're suffering...I completely understand how you feel.

Good luck!

Gosh, I am off Pred for almost three weeks and still got the headaches, and I know it is not from the 6-MP that I take at 6 PM. I wake up with these headaches and they ease up in the run of the day, but no luck getting rid of them. I don't want to take too much Tylenol either since it can clash with 6-MP (regarding the liver). I started to get Pred headaches at 5 mg that I took for almost 2 weeks. That leaves me now with a daily headache since 5 1/2 weeks. So I feel your pain - things can only get better. Hang in there!

Same. Last two mornings I get up with one. Started on that 5 mg dose. I'll probably try and stay here for several more days before going down another 2.5. GOING OUT TO GOLF TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd take Tylenol for headaches. I also used Adrenal Support supplement when coming off the Prednisone. I don't know if it helped; it seemed to. I was on the Pred. for about a year at various doses. I wasn't sure if the headaches were withdrawal or the Imuran I had started, though.
