I have a very bad case of proctitis. Inflamation is only in about 1 -2 inches of my lower rectum. My weight is not a problem. I gained a ton of weight from all the prednisone in the past. My doc just switched me to sulfasalzine 4 pills 2x a day. I have been bleeding pretty much since last January after my 1st miscarriage. I was hospitalized back in march. Treasted with prednisone a few times afterwards and no matter what...as soon as I got off the pred I would flare back up. My Dr. is trying one last med (I just saw him for the first time last week) before suggesting 6MP or remicade. I have a lot of blood and just frankly sick of it. Wasn't sure if the digestive enzymes help you lose weight?

Digestive enzymes are used to help break/digest your food down so it's less work for the GI tract...you can use them in the form of supplementation or the natural digestive enzymes are papaya, pineapple, kiwi and mango so if you can tolerate any of those fruits it's best to eat them just after each meal you have.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)

Hi

Natren Company only specializes and researched probiotics, I take Trenev Trio, you may have to call them to order. It's a new probiotic where the strains are suspended in a oil matrix. I like them but I also take Mercola probiotics. I love Dr. Mercolas newsletter, they are very informative. You can read about him on www.mercola.com

I also take Nordic Natuals cod liver oil (lemon) this helps.

Have a great day!

First scope 7/05 should no UC, but I was bleeding with urgency, was told I had IBS. Six months later, sigmoid showed UC at rectum, 2nd colonoscopy & Endoscopy 7/27/07, Left sided colitis and near cecum (mild) no UC at rectum. On and off meds, but the side effects are worse than the dis-ease itself. 5ASA's make me highly nervous, feeling on verg of panic attack all day, thence "accidents", especially when driving.
12/08 Olive leaf extract, probiotics, holy basil, whole food multi-vitamin. I manage on a daily basis, work out 4-5 times a week. I feel like a volcano during the day and erupt in the AM (bathroom for a hour), the it starts all over again. Try to eat gluten free and low sugar diet.

Bromelain is what is found in pineapple. That's exactly what meat tenderizer is so I put that stuff on every piece of meat that I cook.

They will not necessarily help with your proctitis, you'll need to use rectal meds for a while until it finally gets under control.
