I was on celebrex for a knee injury when i was about 14 and had a severe allergic reaction to it and was hospitalized bc the doctor that administered it did not know that it contained sulfa which i am extremely allergic to.  I was reading about celebrex and learned that it can cause several different gastro problems including "colitis with bleeding".  Could this possibly be the reason i began having flares? Has anyone else been on this med and had gastro problems?

Celebrex is an NSAID, in the same family of drugs as aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin), naproxen (Alleve) and several others. These medications are not recommended for those of us with IBD because they can irritate the lining of the stomach, intestines or colon and cause bleeding. They do not cause ulcerative colitis, which is a chronic disease, but they can make the symptoms worse if you have UC.
Moderate to severe left-sided UC (21 cm) diagnosed 2001.
