If you're in a flare, how many times do you go to the bathroom in the morning before you're ready to start your day?
Diagnosed with proctitis in March 2007 - Treated with Canasa 2x Daily
Diagnosed with UC December but had symptoms months ago - Treating with Asacol (feel hopeless)

If you're in a 'proper' flare, your day just doesn't get a chance to start.

You could be running to the bathroom at least a dozen times before noon.

ie. You're ill. Very ill. Should be getting treatment asap.

Of course there are varying degrees of flare-ups. The aforementioned would be at the extreme end of the scale.

I don't think you're in that category or you wouldn't be able to use the internet.

You should definitely be on rectal meds.

My last mild flare had me in the bathroom 5 times in one morning. Of course I went a few more times during the day.

I started rectal meds nightly immediately...I'm now tapering with one bm in the morning..no urgency.

I usually go three or four times, trying whether I feel like I need to go or not, before I'm out the door for a 30 minute commute. That's when I'm feeling good.

Lately I have urgency in the morning and I have to go 2 to 3 times before I am "done". I will go once, then go back to what I was doing, a few minutes later I am like NOT AGAIN... sometimes it happens more than once and I make a run for the toilet. Usually, with my current flare, I will be ok for a while after my morning poos.

Bubba, I was the same way a month ago. It was constant. Any time I could have to go and many times nothing would come out and 5 minutes later, in the bathroom again...

I started using my rectal meds last night for the first time in months. I hope they improve my morning business. tongue

It's common for IBDers to have major issues first thing in the am...a "proper" flare also often includes the rest of the day and night activity as well, it may not be as active those particular parts of the day compared to first thing in the am, but many IBDers have issues throughout the day/evening and during the night as well.

:)

I usually go twice in the morning before I head out the door. The first time, when I first wake up, is usually mostly gas. The second time around there is more business that takes place.

Then I get to work and go and then it's pretty much every 2 or 3 hours. During the evening, sometimes it can be none, sometimes 4 times.

Overall, I have to go about 8 to 10 times a day...however only 3 times seems to bear "fruit" (actually poops vs just the urge or gas).

When I flare, I go at least 5 times in the morning. Even though I'm in remission according to my GI, I'm still running to the bathroom a min. of 3 times in the morning and have to get up 2 hours before I have to leave to go somewhere. Very annoying!
