How can I tell when 6MP is working?

Title pretty much says it all...

What effect did 6MP have on you when it started to work?
I have a feeling that they may be kicking in a bit, but I am also reducing my steroid dosage right now, so it is hard to tell what is really happening since I have several factors changing at once.

What were your symptoms before starting 6mp and how are they now? And what are the factors?

Well I have been flaring for last 6 months, and am close to getting surgery as a result. symptoms have been for from consistant, although have been consistantly bad, just switch from pain, to blood etc... had bad reactions to other drugs which has upset things. basically I find it is impossible to tell if its te ^MP working, or something else, because other factors such as medication keep changing.

I just want to know how 6mp effected others when it started to work so that I can see if that matches up with me.

     The 6MP takes from three to six months to kick in.  I had to take it along with the prednisone.  I noticed a difference about three months into my regimen.  Symptoms subsided...bleeding gone was the first thing I noticed, then urgency subsided.  Now I have normal bowel movements about once or twice a day.  Good luck!

Update 11/03/08...finally in remission!!  Hope I don't jinx myself.  Off the prednisone since 11/01/08...now see if I can stay off for longer than two weeks.  Other meds: 6MP (75 mgm), colazal (6 per day), Benicar and Toprol (high blood pressure meds), Probiotic (2 per day), fish oil capsule and multi-vitamin and calcium with vitamin D.

Anyone had any side effects of the 6mp?
Age: 48

Diagnosed with UC in June 2006
Medications: Asacol 3 pills 3 x/day, Canansa am & pm, Atenelol 1 x/day, Ativan as needed
No. of colonoscopies: 1
Originally diagnosed with moderate UC, pancolitis

side effects?-

At 50 mg- a bit more fatigue than usual and bruising. mouth sores ( yuck)

At 75 mg- nausea, sick headache, and the above... I feel this about 1 hour of taking medication... lasts about 2-3 hrs/ after that I am ok until next day when I take it again

10 infusions of Remicade- doesn't work
Severely anemic-

back up to 30 mg of pred
Added 6MP- November 25th

Christine, thats what i wanted to hear... fingers crossed thats how it goes for me, I'm pretty sure that the blood is subsiding a bit even tho I'm reducing pred... lets hope that a lack of urgency follows!
