hello all,
i am curious about cottage cheese. i don't do dairy at all. i was vegan for a looooong time and had really bad reactions to dairy that i accidentally ate when i was still vegan before i even had uc. i eat fish and eggs now and was thinking about adding goat milk yogurt and/or cottage cheese to my diet but was wondering what others had experienced with these foods. Do those of you that don't eat dairy eat these things with no problems, or are they just as hard on you?
thanks!

If dairy caused you problems before you had UC, I don't know why you would want to introduce it again? Go ahead and try small amounts of it and see how you react. Have you been tested for lactose intolerance? If not maybe you should get tested.

I cannot eat cottage cheese. I do eat yogurt - after taking a Lactaid pill - maybe an unnecessary precaution.

winni - Not that I can tell, no. But I don't drink very much milk, just because I don't like it very much. I do eat cheese and yogurt on an almost daily basis and they don't cause me any problems that I can notice.

I eat cottage cheese all the time and it doesn't bother me at all. I can't ingest any other dairy such as milk or ice cream. Maybe because of the way it's cultured that cottage cheese doesn't bother me? I don't have a problem with cheddar cheese or aged cheese either.
