Finally time for my appointment with my NP.  I like her much better than the gastro doctor so I ask to see her. I could see either.
She called the doctor while I was there when I told her the Procotfoam was not getting the symptoms under control.  I still have daily blood and cramping, etc.
Doctor wants me on prednisone but agreed to get me try the hydrocortisone enemas for 3 weeks before putting me on a "burst" of prednisone.  May be just putting it off but avoiding prednisone for now.
Enemas are hard for me although I usually can retain about 2/3 all night.  It is when I try to use it all that I have problems.  NP told me use as much as I can that will stay in for at least an hour.
I am to call her in two weeks with results.  Wish me luck!
I really want this remission (or close) so I can have knee replacement surgery in April! My knees are a lot more pain than my colon.

Nurse Practicioner.  That is about all both my husband (at VA) and I see unless we request a doctor.  I am always asked if I want an appointment with my doctor or her.  She is so much nicer and will listen better than any doctor.  However, she has regular meetings with him about all the patients and he prescribes.  I am a "talker" and I know a pain at times and she is so patient with me.  This doctor (and her) do not have any new patients my age.  All are younger when diagnosed.

I did Rowasa for a while so know that I don't really like to do enemas but at this point - giving it a try again.  I finally convinced them I cannot take or use anything with mesalamine.  So, if this does not work - prednisone burst is next.

I will let you all know what happens when I get started - my pharmacy has to order the enemas on Monday so I should be able to start on Tuesday night.
