Hi All,

I still can't believe it. After my whole situation with the sulfasalazine and my new GI telling me to get off the hydrocort enemas and going back to my old GI who was talking to me about 6MP, etc......

I decided to try a rowasea enema last week and for the past 2 days I have seen NO BLOOD!!!!!!!! I am also taking an aloe vera pill at night as well.

Do you think the rowasea enema did the trick? Is this safe to be on for longterm? I am still taking 12 asacol and doing canasa in the AM.

Great news...it could be a coincidence that the bleeding stopped when using the rowasa as the corti enemas are stronger...the only way to find out is over time and with trial and error. If the rowasa continues to work then that's great as they are more benign than the corti stuff. Canasa and rowasa basically share the same medicine mesalamine but the nemas may be reaching an area where the suppository may not.

I think it's better to continue on the Rowasa....I do, however, think you're on a high oral dosage of Asacol considering you have proctitis.

If you do eventually get the inflammation controlled, maybe eventually you could consider to lower the dosage if need be. At least you can increase in the future.

Awesome to hear you have good results with the Rowasa...didn't you use it in the past?

The Rowasa can be used for long-term...you should use it nghtly until you have NO symptoms...then use it for another week nightly and then go to every second night.

The longest I used it nightly was for 4 months (Salofalk enema)...then tapered.
20 years strong using them for flares and taper to maintenance....I hope they work forever.

When I was hospitalized back in March 08 they had me on the rowasea enemas in the AM and the steriod enemas at night plus the IV steriods. When released on was on both enemas and prednisone. Then when I went into remission for a month I stopped all rectal treatment. Since Fathers Day I dont think I have tried just the rowasea...I was told to go to cortifoam or canasa or the canasa and steriod enema.

I do have a few questions....(this may be TMI)...but:

My first poo of the day in the AM is very white/grey? Is that from the enema?

When I wipe there is still a slimy muscus like grey/white film? Is that from the enema?

Thanks!

I have those same issues and I take rowesa enemas. So i would assume the grey color and film are the enema. Glad to here things are lookin up for you.
