I have the flu since yesterday.  Part of that has been the diarrhea - no blood yet thankfully.  What have you experienced?  Does it go away or lead to a flare?

The flu is respiratory...is that what you have?

Or is it a gastro virus/bug?

You could be starting a flare?

If you're flaring, it could make you worse..but if you're kind of starting a flare, it could exacerbate it. Make sure you're taking your meds.

Definitely make sure you take probiotics to keep the gastro flora balanced.
You could also make sure you take some fibre supplements...Metamucil Smooth is a good one...to help absorb any of the bad bugs and get them out.

Don't take imodium...you want to get whatever OUT asap.

I agree with quincy- it could be a flare... Sometimes I feel achey and crappy all over, and it feels like I have the flu or some other crud, but in reality it's just my UC making my whole body feel worn.

Female, 23, Ulcerative colitis (pancolitis) since 1999; GERD; gastritis; osteopenia in femur head & lumbar spine from long term prednisone use...

Current Meds:
Lexapro 10mg, Azasan 100mg

I had a stomach bug last week. It's not the flu....it's a virus that causes nausea and diarrhea. It lasted about 48 hours, mostly vomiting, and a little diarhhea. It caused, for me, a minor flair. I seem to be totally over it now about a week and a half later.
diagnosed with UC in 1962
regualr meds:
Asulfadine (500mg tablets, 6 daily)
Folic Acid
Zantac as needed

My husband was sick first and then 24 hours later it hit me. A friend actually just shared an article with me that Baltimore has been hit with the Norovirus, so that seems likely of what I have. Vomiting, diarrhea, etc. The article states:

"It's the norovirus, a gastrointestinal infection often mistakenly called the stomach flu"

Seeing that it's a gatrointestional infection scares me a little more......

I had the flu 2 years ago, and it led to getting a flare, I think because of my immune system being down. But it was a mild flare and cleared up when the flu did.
Rachael - 24 years old, diagnosed with CD in Dec. of 2004.

Currently on 20 mg of Prednisone, 2.4mg Lialda, and 100mg Azathioprine. Also multi-vitamins, and Anti-D when necessary. 1/2 tablet of 5MG-325 MG pain pill when needed

I thank God every day for an amazing support network of family, my boyfriend who has been there since the beginning, and my friends who never waver.

Ah, even sometimes when I get a cold my poops are different, they change in shape/consistancy and that's before even taking any meds for my cold, so getting sick with even a cold can change your poops/bowel habits.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)
