Both my parents had colon cancer, and eventually died from it.(both caught very late)
Because of that, I get a colonoscopy every 3 to 5 years .  The next one he is scheduling a bit before the third year(polyps found last scope) This is how he found my Colitis.
My daughter just turned 45.
With the family history should she start getting hers earlier than the age 50 they recommend?
She asked 2 different docs and got 2 different answers.
Gyno said get one now.
The regular MD, said no rush.

Should I just call my doc and ask him?

My mother died from colon cancer. I have a scope every 2 years. Your daughter might want to ger a baseline now, then follow the recommended schedule.

It's a good idea. Try to find a GI with a good reputation for giving colonscopies. No procedure is without risks.

Absolutely tell your daughter to get one now. Get the gyne to send her to a GI who she would trust to do them. Or...have your own GI do her c-scope,.,better yet.
