I am considering going to see a Naturopathic Doctor just to see what foods I may be sensitive to and what specific vitamins I may be lacking...

Have many of you visited a naturopath before? If so what kind of experience did you have???

Thanks!

Food allergy should be done as a test from a medical standpoint.

The foods you are sensitive to should be easier to decide for yourself. Keep a food diary.

Naturopaths are good for getting a peek outside the box of conventional medicine but they are no substitute for learning for yourself. Take what they have to say with a grain of salt and use the info they say as a guideline not as gospel.

Most naturopaths will tell you the exact same stuff you can get off a good search engine on the internet.

I have been keeping a food diary, but have had no correlations b/w foods to figure out what foods I am sensitive to. I know I have no food allergies, no question there.

I am only curious as to what they have to say :)

I had the food sensitivity testing ($300) done by the Naturopath and it was a huge help to me. I would have probably not been very good about keeping the diary, and figuring out when what affected me. He also introduced me to probiotics (before I discovered this message board). B-12 shots were of help, too.

He told me what chemistry tests to have done by my regular doc, so it would be covered by insurance: It was Chem-17 screen and a test for Vitamin D deficiency. Ask about doing those tests with your regular doc.

There was a thread last week about the pros and cons. Know when they've done for you all they can, and don't just automatically purchase everything they want to sell you. But try some things. That's my advice.

Good luck!

August 2008 sought care of naturopathic doctor. Food sensitivity test showed wheat/gluten, other intolerances; started diet without gluten, soy, dairy, tomato etc. Replete$$ probiotic powder, then Forte, now a stronger one (50 billion). Doing much better, but still having some bad days.

I went to a naturopath and ended up spending a lot of money on products that really didn't help me. That was one of the things I did on my road to self improvement. But, you never know...maybe it'll work out for you. If you're interested in any other ideas, let me know.

If you are curious about whether you are allergic to a particular food or not just muscle test with it. This works with alot of different things. Just can't do a broad range of things in short amount of time.
