Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share my experience with UC the last half a year.

Around may I got new doc who gave me some steroids ( enema) , which worked like a charm. Solid BMs within 2 days. Ever since then I have been better than ever. the whole summer I had no UC problems not even close , I was under 1 BM per day. I even stopped taking the colozal . I really do not see any improvement from that drug it just gets annoying to take it 3 times a day , i keep forgetting and I don't know what is in it and I hate putting so much drugs in my body ( 9 tablets per day ) .

However now I am starting to get a little bit notice from our friend UC . I am up to 3-5 BMs per day still not bad as most of us had days of 15+ .

You did right to go back on Colazal. Hopefully, it will bring your flare back under control soon. My gastro advises to stay on the regular dose for at least 3 months after flaring. Good luck. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Might I also suggest that you use the enemas a for a short while and then taper off when you feel better? If you nip this in the bud by being agressive, you will be in much better shape! It's probably easier to stem the progression at this point then to wait.

Congrats on your long stretch of no drugs and remission. That's great. The colazol is pretty benign stuff, so once you feel better, you should probably consider styaing on it, even though it's a hassle to remember 3x a day.
