Hey there!

Just wanted to give you an update. As much as I treasured the 6 days of remissioin I had last week...I knew deep down it would come to an end. I was admitted to the hospital yesterday because of my proc***. My bathroom trips, blood and pain were getting too much for me. The rowasa and asacol was just not strong enought.

So they had me go for a ct scan....hate prepping that!!! Confirmed that the colitis hasn't spread. Wasted 3.5 hours prepping and waiting for test while in the ER. At least I got to watch Obama's special day!!! I am so proud of our Country. Though when everybody was chanting..."We can do it" or "Yes we can"....and I am sitting in the ER hooked up to drugs, etc...it was hard to believe.

Tomorrow they are scoping me. I have been put on 20mgs of iv steriods every 8 hours and i started 6MP - finally!! I should of done that months go but I was soo caught up in gettng pregnant and my IVF cycle.

ANYBODY WITH JUST PROCITITIS on 6MP?

Please keep me in your thoughts.

I am sorry. I hope you have a quick recovery. I have proctitis too and I haven't been able to have any kind of remission since I was diagnosed in 2007. I have been doing really well lately but not remission, I still run to the toilet in the AM. I can't complain though, it is better than nearly pooping myself and running tot he toilet 15x a day like I was a few months ago. Get better so you can focus on getting pregnant.

Good luck and I hope the 6mp works quickly for you. I have never been in the hospital for my Uc (though I probably should've gone a few times in the past). Are you still there now or did they send you home?

I am still here. They are doing a scope today in the afternoon. I am on liquids (but stopping at noon) and I keep running the bathroom. Not as much blood today but less of everything. I think the iV steriods are kicking in. I hate this disease.

sickly - i know we chatted before but what keeps you well?

madabs - i wouldnt be in this situation if i wasnt originally so focused on IVF. i did 2 cycles while flaring (father's day) and at that time i was only in remission for 1.5 months last year. i have tried every medication and nothing works....I had no choice. But I did alot of research and sought out a high risk OB and listened to alot of people on the forum about 6MP and pregnancy and feel comfortable enough to stay on it if/when I get pg.

Well the colonoscopy showed "left-sided" colitis. No more "one" inch in rectum inflamation. I was pretty out of it when the GI explained it to me. I am curious as to what if this difference between left sided and proctosigmoiditis? I am kinda in a bit of shock considered my last scope was in October and just showed "one" inch of inflamation.

The plan is to remain in the hospital for 1-2 more days....with no symptoms on the IV steriods plus the 50mgs of 6MP and 12 asacol pills. Then when I get released I will be on prednisone to a taper (no rectal meds -- Quincy don't you find that odd) and continue the 6MP and asacol. So this def. explains my abdominal pains now. I never had that with proctitis.

suggestions...thoughts...

I am just taking 3 asacol 3x a day and a Canasa suppisitory at night. I also take probiotics and avoid corn.

I seem to be doing well for now. I am worried I will get bad again though. It seems like nothing helps anyone forever.

I am sorry to hear about your scope. It is no wonder you have been feeling so crappy. I hope you can get this cleared up so you feel good again.
