Are you on any probiotics? If not, this may help remedy that. I get alot of abdominal bloat as well even while on probiotics but it helps to decrease the size a bit. But for your gut to swell to that size, it may be wise to ask your doc about it. Are you normally thin or overweight?

At the minute im not on any meds, doc cant seem to find one that works for me. i have come off the predsol as it wasnt working and causing VERY MAD mood swings but thankfully im ok at the minute... i only get the odd day maybe once a week that i have pain and the swelling the toilet visits have calmed down aswell, im really amazed just keeping fingers crossed but am concerened about the swelling. I am normal weight aswell 5FT 6INC and just over 10st. So when i do get the swelling it is really noticable argghhh.

My stomach used to get really big after I ate certain foods. I have IBS. I now take Beano and Lactaid and limit or avoid foods that give me gas. These include:

Certain vegetables (asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumbers, green peppers, onions, peas, scallions)
Dairy (milk, cheese)
Foods high in fiber (beans, certain breads and cereals)
Foods with HFCS (many packaged/processed foods, many beverages, many condiments)
Foods high in fructose (honey, dried fruit, sundried tomatoes, maraschino cherries, BBQ sauce, sweet and sour sauce, jam, grapes)
Foods that contain fructose and sorbitol (prunes, pears, apples, watermelon, peaches)
Artificial sweeteners (sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol, isomalt,...)
Spicy foods
Deep fried foods
Joy - 47 yrs and counting
Diagnosed w/ UC Dec 06 (also have IBS)
Currently in remission

Lexapro (for stress)
Probiotics
Vitamins (a whole bunch of them)
Anti-inflammatory foods: turmeric, seaweed, garlic...
Avoid: anything with high-fructose corn syrup, foods high in fructose, artificial sweeteners
