Okay, I'll make this short and sweet. The first couple times I went to the bathroom today it was bright greenand progressively throughout the day its gotten quite a bit darker. The last time I went it was black and very grainy. I feel only slightly worse then normal, I've just noticed that within 10-15 mins of eating I am running to the bathroom. I HATE the thought of the hospital, especially since it will ruin everyone's plans. What do I do? cry

You poor thing...look at all your medications! Are you monitoring your diet? I do find that certain foods cause some crazy bms...and I don't always have a change in the way I feel, it's just the way it all looks.

Are your medications not working?! I would hope that you are able to find some kind remission soon!!!

The iron pills I take sometimes make mine funky colors. Maybe you took something herbal or a vitamin?

I am hoping it is nothing...

That still happens to me occasionally as well.  I find that if I'm eating spicy or foods like porkchops, stuff like that that my digestive system has to work hard to digest, that's when it happens.  Or if I'm tired or over extended myself two or three days in a row at work or too much walking around at home doing housework, etc.  I find I have to rest more to get back to "normal" (whatever that it means when we have ulcerative colitis!)

Also, take some food with your medications not just the meds itself.  I know it's hard to not do that but I find it helps me to take some food.

I'm going to try some things to try to bulk up the stool because at times too, for me, that it can be grainy (looks like sand, sandcolor or black also).

Diet plays a big part for me.  Take it easy on yourself.  Hope things work out for you.

I should probably update my signature as I'm not longer on remicade due to an allergic reaction. Other than that I'm still on my meds and still flaring, I'm waiting it out until March and getting a few more tests and then surgery. I also very much monitor my diet, which, simply put, SUCKS because I can't eat anything. I haven't really felt too well the last couple of days, very crampy and extremely exhausted with numerous bathroom trips (10+) and I've noticed that the blood I'm seeing is not bright red, but brown...like old blood. This, I assume, can mean one of two things...remission--the blood is just slowly making its way out, or bleeding higher up in the GI tract<---this makes me nervous. I guess I should call my doctor sad

You should definitely call your doctor. I was always under the impression that the darker the blood the higher up the bleeding. Mine is slowly becoming darker as well, as I am tapering the Prednisone prior to surgery and my flare is worsening. *sigh* However, I feel I can make due b/c I know the end is near!!!

I hope you can get in with your doctor sooner than later. Waiting for surgery just is not an option for me, as I am ready to get better NOW! It sounds like your situation is similar to mine. I don't think I'm allergic to Remicade though, it just doesn't work for me. Nothing seems to really. So, that's why we're doing the surgery now and not waiting...I'm tired of this! And I can only imagine how tired you are b/c you are striving so hard to find something that works.

I quit monitoring my diet when I realized that it doesn't matter what I eat, I still suffer and it hurts regardless. However, I do not eat the obvious...I just do have an extreme diet in place. Besides, two weeks from tomorrow I'm going to be UC FREE!!! Whoo-whoo!!!

I so wish you the best of luck...please keep us posted on your condition and surgery options. It's a big choice, but clearly the best one when faced with no remission and a future of suffering!
