Let's take our mind off of Uc for a minute and tell us what sort of things do you enjoy.  Are you into music, reading, crafting, biking, mountain climbing, snowboarding etc.?
I used to loved to do needlecrafts but since I got too many things wrong with my hands I've had to stop doing that.  So right now, my favorite hobby is reading.  I always have my nose buried in a book!  I am a huge fan of the Twilight series smilewinkgrin   but I also love any good suspense/murder/mystery/supernatural book.  Usually in the warmer months though I can't stand to be cooped up in the house.  I am always outside either gardening, walking my dogs or riding with my hubby on his Harley.  Oh and did I mention that I am a chaffeur?? Yep for 13 year old daughter and her friends! Oh the joys of teenagers tongue

I also love to read and I'm Half Price Books best customer. When I am not too sickly, I love to take long walks with my dogs (a Border Collie and a Chihuahua), ride my bike for hours, do yoga and pilates and love to create graphics on the PC. I am also a movie buff, but since I can't stand mass crowds and all the noise at the theatre, I go with Netflix and watch the movies in the comfort of my own home (at least you can pause them for pee breaks and the like tongue ). I also love to cook and bake and try new recipes. I used to love to travel, but since getting flares so often, I haven't done it in quite some time and if I do, I find it too exhausting. Wish I could just beam me somewhere sometimes.

I have gotten more into sewing this past year. I taught myself how to make different kinds of purses, made my first skirt, and am jumping into teddy bears right now. Brought one of my bears into work the other day and the kids wouldn't let go of it. I got such a kick out of that.

Red, have you ever read anything by Carl Hiassen? He's my favorite author- his books are often described as comedic crime novels. He's SOO great, and really funny.
I loved the Twilight books as well, I was so disappointed that it was over when I finished the last one :(

Aside from reading, I like making my own jewelry- nothing too fancy or intricate, just simple cute bracelets and stuff. I like attempting to cook new things, usually when I go food shopping I will pick a recipe that sounds good that I haven't tried and buy all the ingredients and see how it goes. Uhmm.... Oh, I like playing video games, specifically on the xbox360. The two I'm playing currently are Fable 2, a role playing type game, and Left 4 Dead, this amazing game where you fight off hordes of crazy zombies during the zombie apocalypse... It's awesome when you play with friends online, it gets intense, haha.

Other than that, I just spend my time cuddling/playing with my dog or watching various TV shows. Speaking of which, the new season of LOST is going to be AMAZZZIIING!!! I'm still trying to wrap my mind around last night's series premiere.

Female, 23, Ulcerative colitis (pancolitis) since 1999; GERD; gastritis; osteopenia in femur head & lumbar spine from long term prednisone use...

Current Meds:

As you know I am a senior and caregiver to my husband. Right now I do believe he is feeling better than I am. He has several health problems including COPD, arthritis and lung cancer. He is in remission now for 9 months.

I like to shop but need a knee replacement so haven't been much lately. My girlfriend and I go at least once a month - shop a little and have lunch

The computer is my hobby along with photography. I love to take pictures and do my own printing, editing, etc. I also make all my own greeting cards, etc. on the computer.

When warm outside (Spring is coming, right?) I do enjoy getting out in the sun just walking a little and enjoying nature. We live in the woods so it is nice.

Traveling is my favorite thing to do - planning a trip to NC before my knee replacement in April or May. We were military for 20 years so have been to Germany and Japan. Also, lived in Colorado, Washington and Virgnia. I have been to Disney World, Las Vegas, Ottawa, Chicago and many other places over the years. Still like coming home to NY.

I have tons of hobbies.

Right now the two I've been spending the most time on are Indian dance (Kathak) and cake decorating.

I also love figure skating, cycling, aerobics, yoga, Pilates, hiking, hip hop, modern dance, jazz, billards, ping-pong or just jumping on the trampoline to get rid of some of my energy (which I don't seem to have right now, because I'm anemic due to a recent flare). I saw this OMGym on the Web. I really want one of those.

And then I love computers, especially playing games and surfing the Net, and watching movies, especially science fiction ones.

I like to read. I go to university. I like to watch movies. I started knitting a little while ago but got behind on it...need to pick that up again but reading for school takes up soooooo much time.

I hated the last Twilight book...blah

I like to walk in the park that's near my apartment with my boyfriend...well it isn't near the apartment it's a 20 minute drive but it has a beach so it's cool. Other than that I take care of the Fuzz-o (fat orange kitty)

Edie, no I don't think I've read anything by that author. My favorite authors at the moment are Tess Gerretson (sp?), Heather Grahamn, Kay Hooper and I am thinking of getting into the Ted Dekker novels.

Sounds like you all have some interesting hobbies. I know that when I am feeling like crap and I do something I enjoy, it helps take my mind off it.

I also like to play video games - or used to anyway. I was really into the Tomb Raider games when they were hot and for some reason everytime I turned the game on, it made me run to the bathroom! I guess just the act of knowing that something is going to scare me made me have to pooh! lol Oh and I loved loved loved the Resident Evil series. Until I started playing Nemesis - that was just way to scary for me!

I also enjoy reading - I commute to work by bus and usually do a lot of reading on the bus, but the bus drivers in Ottawa have been on strike for over a month so I haven't had as much time for reading lately.
Edie, I read my first Carl Hiassen book last summer while on a camping trip. It was hilarious! I've since read a couple more.
Red, I also like Tess Gerritsen but haven't read any in a while. Thanks for the reminder.
I also play video games on the wii and ps3. I enjoy skating and skiing in the winter and am looking forward to a ski trip to Lake Placid in March. In the summer I like to go camping and I do a lot of gardening, rollerblading and swimming.

I don't have a particular hobby, but I do love to read, walk/workout etc., and when I get the time, I like to cook and bake. Carl Hiassen is one of my favorite authors too! I have two dogs; a cocker spaniel and English Cream Retriever...and they are always up for a walk so that is usually my first priority when I get home from work -- how can you say no to those begging eyes? :-)

I love taking pictures (mainly of my 6 year old daughter). I have tons of photo albums, I love organizing all of the photos and putting them into albums. My daugther has 8 or 10 albums already. I also have separate albums for me & DH, we've been together for almost 11 years and I have an album for each year. I love looking back at all of our photos.

I also like to read but it goes in spurts. I'll go months without reading and then I'll read like crazy.

We love eating out and we do so about 2-3 times a week. The summer is our favorite when we can sit outside and enjoy the nice weather while eating dinner. My daughter was only 10 days old when we took her to her first restaurant. She loves going out just as much as we do.

I like being outdoors, biking, rollerblading, at the beach, or walking my dog. (I have a 2 year old labradoodle named Layla - she is the best!!)I also play hockey in the winter, I ski and enjoy working out and trying to keep in shape (although kind of on hold at the moment while trying to kick this vertigo business).

Pretty much hate sitting around, although I do love to watch sports with a buddy or my dad or brother. I have kind of put a stop to the beer and wings business for a bit, so mostly watch my sports at home. I don't mind, actually enjoy watching it on my own couch or in the basement while playing some darts.

Of course I can't forget, it's always nice to take a load off and watch a couple movies and relax with the girlfriend.

I'm also getting to be a better cook because of this...don't really mind either. Can't wait to break out the BBQ in the spring.

I LOVE the twilight books! I hated the movie though, but they never do the books justice. Most of the time my nose is buried in a biology or chem book trying to earn my B.S in Medical Technology. I try to read for pleasure but I've got a short attention span. Somehow I started a collection of rubber ducks and it has grown much too big for my age :) My family has lake property so I enjoy time in a "true" Minnesotan cabin fishing and relaxing. My boyfriend is glued to his xbox 360 and I can't figure out why. Its so boring to me! I'd rather waste my money on a coach purse every couple months lol!

I like to read, but can't read more than a few pages before I fall asleep! I think law school ruined me. I've been reading the same two books since last May.

I am a golf fanatic, 17 handicap and dropping. Of course I prefer courses with adequate bathrooms.

Few of my hobbies that really eased stress and helped w/ my UC were playing drums (both recording and in a band), and also racing gas-powered radio controlled cars (hence my call name MBX5)...the drums were a great release, and the racing was a great way to keep my mind focused on anything other than UC.... I have since sold my drums to furnish my living room (had to have a new couch and plasma TV)....I regret it now... I sold the RC equipment and got into riding sport ATV's....that is fun as well but I think I may be getting a little old for the bike that I ride - I am not as crazy as I used to be... I was into both road bike and mountain bike racing....I used to race USCF and NORBA sanctioned races...UC put a stop to that however....

Not much of a book reader here - I have a short attention span....however I have been reading Bill O'reilly's "Bold Fresh" lately....might get Dick Morris's new book....I am into the right wing / independent talking head people.....

I may get back into the RC hobby again....the competition was fun... Might get back into flying RC planes again too....I think a hobby to enjoy is very important in keeping our minds off our problems...UC or no UC...
34 yr old male. UC for 14 years. Started left-sided, most recent scope shows pancolitis. 35mg pred (as of 1/20/09), 12 pills Asacol per day, 1mg Atavan per day (anxiety) when needed, Fish oil pills, Flax oil pills, Culturelle probiotics, Multivitamin. Recent Endonasal brain surgery to remove non-cancerous hormone producing tumor on pituitary gland (and I am still more afraid of my UC!!) "I poop in the woods because I can"
