I'd lean towards yes it's a flare..maybe very mild. But...it could be IBS. It could be too much fibre, for that will give me huge discomfort and distention.
Write down a day's diet and maybe someone can help with possible changes.
I don't think you're on enough Asacol actually...6 would be better.
Are you using the Rowasa? how often?
I personally wouldn't use the charcoal caps...just because your symptoms are getting worse.
Can you increase your fluid intake?
Do you have any antispasmodics? They can help to lessen the spasming and that will sometimes help with releasing the gas.
Are you on any digestive enzymes?
I was flaring as of just before Christmas. I tapered the enemas rather quickly..but am back to using them nighly again because I'm obviously flaring. My symptoms are more urgency, slight rectal discomfort upon bms, gas and some frequency depending on what I've eaten and how much. Stool is pretty much formed but "fluffy" because I'm taking the Metamucil Smooth.
My backache stabbing pain has ceased and my bms are now only in the morning...big changes since using the enemas nightly again. I'll say on them for about
2 + weeks and then taper every second night for about
3 instead of a week and a half...I was feeling good and truly lazy about
wanting to use them. Amazing how the body rules.
Hope you feel better soon.
