eyes and flaring

Does this happen to anyone else i seem to get eye infections every time i flare just started a flare DR has put me on a 2 wk cause of asacol foam and last night at work wham goes my eye and am now on drops for that just feel yuk this DD sucks sorry for the moans but can't even go to bed as hubby at work and kids at home as it's the weekend he did get me my eye drops before going to work though.
  
  Diagnosed 22.5.08 with Lft sided U/C
  Meds Predfoam 20mg 2x day stopped started Mesalazine supps 1gm 26/6/08
  Mesalazine 400mg 4 tabsx2 day
  Domperidone 10mg as needed

My vision gets blurry during a flare.

Age: 31
Location: Missouri
Diagnosed with UC in 1997.

There was a period a few years ago that I kept getting frequent eye infections. But yes, it is an extra manifestation of UC. Lucky us eh?

     Yes, UC can affect the eyes.  My GI doctor sent me to an opthamalogist (spelling?) while flaring.

Diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis in 1998 in hospital
Hospitalized (2nd time) in May 2008
Update 11/03/08...finally in remission!!  Hope I don't jinx myself.  Off the prednisone since 11/01/08...now see if I can stay off for longer than two weeks.  Other meds: 6MP (75 mgm), colazal (6 per day), Benicar and Toprol (high blood pressure meds), Probiotic (2 per day), fish oil capsule and multi-vitamin and calcium with vitamin D.

It seems that for me flares and eye infections go together sad as this happened last time only last time it was uvitis

I think that our meds contribute to dry eyes, which makes them more susceptible to irritation. Try to keep yourself well-hydrated in general-- so that the moisture helps your eyes, too. But hey, you can get mesalamine foam! It's still not available in North America. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])
