So overall I am feeling actually pretty good Uc wise.  *The rest of me is falling apart though!* At the moment, I do not have any blood, I don't have any pain, I don't have any urgency, but I do still have cramping (random and it doesn't correspond to my bms) and D 1-3 times a day, usually in the morning and then I am fine for rest of the day.  However when I mentioned this to my GI he seemed concerned that I am still having D.  I am going to have my 2 year c-scope in April and he said that if it showed any inflammation that he is going to have to adjust my meds.  Adjust to what?? What else is there to adjust?  I asked him that but he didn't want to say first without seeing what the scope said.  So I asked what then if my scopes shows everything in the clear and he said that he will assume that the D and cramping is from bowel spasms.  Does this mean IBS?  Could the cramps be from IBS?  These cramps are a new thing for me.  I also have had an increase of mucous production and one time I even went to the bathroom and had a ton of round little mucous balls - that sounds so gross! lol

I agree...you'll have to wait, unfortunately...sucks totally.

Have you tried the Bentyl as of yet?

Could it be the ovarian cysts?

Are there any foods that help reduce your D? (Such as boiled white rice or farina.) More mucus likely means that something is irritated somewhere. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Another thought I just had: if you went on the generic Colazal by Watson Pharma, you might have more D from that. Several of us here have found it a problem so we went back on original Colazal. My gastro also said in Dec. that many patients are complaining about it. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I'm having similar symptoms (except I'm having firmer stools due to Benefiber); my GI says that it is IBS.

It's just weird...I feel good but just the D in the morning. I went only once today, pure D but only a little bit. And here I thought I was doing good! lol I know I will see when I have the scope, it's just a bit frustrating to NOT know what is going on ya know?

Yes, I take Bentyl in the morning but not every morning. I don't have the cramping every single day. It runs cycles where I will have them for about 3 days and then nothing for a few days and then have them again. I do know I have ovarian cysts, but they are not bothersome and only really bother me when I am ovulating. The pain I get from them is a sharp pain not cramping and it's rather quick - sort of ovulation type pain but a bit sharper.

Oh and btw, my Colazal is from Roxane labs. If my scope is good then I will suggest to my doc though to switch me to the brand name to see if it helps.

I was going to say do you notice the D more doing hormonal times of the month?

I think being woman our hormones could effect our bowels movements.

I know mine are effected monthly.

I hope you feel better. Maybe it just a virus too. I know all kinds of things are going around this year. I wish spring would get here.

I agree the scope will tell the tale...and if there is no inflammation to be found, he may very well chock it up to being IBS (ontop of having UC, not changing your UC DX of course).

Definitely let us know what they find (or lack of).

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)
