Currently I have got a constant pain (like period pain but higher up!), really crampy pain that makes me want to be curled up. I also have a sharp stabbing pain occasionally on the right hand side just below my rib cage. It is always in the same area and sometimes hurts right through to my back.

Its this sharp pain that is worrying me because no one currently seems to know whats going on with my Proctitis. I posted on here a few days ago saying how I have been taking various medications for the past year, including being in hospital for IV steroids...none of which has done the job properly, as I am still bleeding fairly heavily everyday. The doctor at the hospital told me that its because he thinks I am bleeding from 'elsewhere' and and has booked me in for a colonoscopy. My GP told me she thinks I might have been wrongly diagnosed, and/or something else is going on and that she is 'sure they will find something when they do the colonoscopy'.

I know I am severely inflamed where my Proctitis is, but I am very worried about them saying something else is going on...and I'm worried what this sharp pain might be. I dont want it to be where this extra blood loss is coming from cos.....well!  Any ideas??

Have you ever had your gallbladder checked out? Sometimes when the gallbladder goes bad or has stones it can cause this sharp right sided pain.

True! My sister has gall stones and she complained of back pain, seems different to how she was complaining of it tho, but I will let the GP know when I go back to see her next week!
