idea   Hello everyone
I am still in the hospital after colectomy surgery because my small bowl had a blockage and they just would not wake up after surgery. But I think things are turning around for the better.
Getting nutricoon by a PICC line and hope to start eating solid foods tomarrow.

This has been a bit rough and guess it will be worth it when it is all over with.

Your temporary ileus is not that uncommon. Get out of bed and walk, walk walk!!!
Congratulations, I am sure once you are home your recovery will speed along.

Subear is right. Take a walk. In any case all of us do face this problem. Normally this happens after colectomy. There are blockages and the small intestines have been sleeping/inactive for days. My piece of advice to you. When you start your solid food please, I say please chew it properly. crush it properly so that it becomes a paste and does not get stuck in the intestines. It takes a while to get back the small intestine in its normal shape, as it shrinks during surgery because of inactivity. I faced this problem and had to remain on liquids for 4 months. I don't even remember how many times they had to switch over to "no oral diet" They would not give me anything orally and everything was given through the IVs. So relax while you are trying solids. Don't gulp anything. Don't have anything which has a seed or skin like citrus. Cheers. Fix a target when you have to be fit and fine and put on your dancing shoes to be back in disco. Take care and get well soon. All of us on this forum are eagerly awaiting your speedy recovery to throw a big party for you.
