I just wanted to tell those of you who urged me to talk to my doctor about Rowasa THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I started using it on Friday and I am feeling almost 100% better.  I had a bowel movement this morning (loose and somewhat urgent, but I can't imagine how it wouldn't be because of the enema) and didn't have another until very late afternoon, which was almost normal consistency (sorry, that may be TMI!).  I had started to notice a bit of improvement on the Asacol alone, but adding the Rowasa really seems to be putting me in to remission!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa nightly, Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).

Well, hope they'll work as long as they've worked for me.....20 years and counting.

You have to be on them until your flare is over...in other words...normal. No symptoms. Stay on them nightly for another week...then taper to every second night for a few weeks...see how you do. Then you can taper once again to every 3rd night..etc.

It's a process to find your maintenance level, basically. There are some who don't use them as such...however.

Happy they're working for you....
