I didn't want to hijack Red's post :)

I honestly have NO idea what's keeping me in remission. I flared for almost a year and a half but it was pretty moderate. I had d, cramping, urgency and some mucus but never any blood. My GI would do scopes and I would have ulcerations but not bad enough to bleed and the last one I had showed it was in the last 8 inches of my colon. We exhausted all of our options and my mom randomly suggested a bowel rest. I did that for 6 days in the hospital and after my GI did another scope and I was pretty much healed but still having problems. He gave me a script for amitriptyline because his theory was that even though I was fully healed, my brain still thought I was sick so it was telling my colon to make D. I went into remission right after that, had a bout with mono and then went back into remission and I've been there ever since.
I think the bowel rest put me into remission but maybe the combination of asacol and amitripyline keep me there. Its kind of all a big mystery.
