Hello all

The last few days I have been suffering with terrible butt burn!  It really burns when I have a BM.

Not sure what has caused it as I havent changed my diet. Has anyone else had this?  Can anyone suggest anything I could try to make it go away?

Thanks for any advice, Take care.

Calmospetine. Available at drugstores that sell ostomy supplies or you can order it online at www.calmoseptineointment.com

You may try Metronidazole Gel - Metrogyl Gel. Apply it before and after each BM. It would prevent your butt from irritation. At times it is because of passing too many BMs as the butt does not get rest and the inflamation is further aggravated with each BM. I have tried all ointments and this one has been helping for the last 2 years - most economical and most effective. You may also try any cold cream or gel with methanol. It gives an icy feeling. Even today I have butt burn but I use this ointment regularly so no problems.

Sue - Can I use that even though I don't have an ostomy?

When I get poos that are really acidic I only wipe with flushable baby wipes and follow that with aquaphor lotion.

Yes, calmoseptine is available as an OTC for anyone. It's great for chafing, minor wounds, and especially butt related discomfort!
