This has been discussed many many times here on HW and the answer is always a resounding yes! :) Many women, even healthy women, have issues with their bowels before their periods. So it's not surprising that it can make things more difficult for Uc women. I would always have mini flares before my periods and then as I got older, my mini flares turned into real flares that wouldn't go away.

I don't have any issues with my bowels before my period.

The only issue with me about periods and UC is that I have a hard time telling the difference between blood from the period and blood from UC. When I'm coming out of a flare, I have a hard time being able to tell that the bleeding hasn't from UC come back. I have to wait until I don't have my period anymore to know that yes, the bleeding from UC hasn't come back. It was just my period.

Yes yes yes! Apparently its due to our hormones being all over the place or something! Its not nice though...the first day of my period is always the worst, reaaaaally bad cramping from period and UC, and also definitely extra blood loss through the back passage..not nice! (I have been flared up since I have been diagnosed a year ago, so not sure if it would be the same for me if I weren't flared up)

Definitely yes. In fact this past month was the very worst it's been for me, despite the fact that I'm on the Pill, which makes my periods quite light anyway, and also on pred, which means they're non-existent. I guess just because I'm not menstruating normally doesn't mean my hormones aren't crazy!

The first two days are the worst for me. I have always had problems with cramping and looser stools, but since UC I now sometimes have severe nausea and vomiting. It's horrible; Zofran doesn't work, I have to be on a liquid diet, and I have to skip classes.

YES! I can always tell what day I'll get my period (besides the fact that I'm on BC) because a day before I get super acidic d and huge gas bubbles in my intestines. I can't ever tell what is a colon cramp or a cramp cramp either so half the time I'm runnin' to the toilet thinking 'she's gonna blow!' when its just menstrual cramps tongue

I don't get any cramping but I have more frequent BM's a few days before. I also get super tired a few days before. It always freaks me out because I think that I'm getting really sick, then my period comes and I'm like "that's why I've been feeling like crap". lol.
