Yes I used to take mild pain killers for withdrawal symptoms. But don't become dependent on them. Rather it would be better to build your immune system and use one of those pain relief ointments like Volini or spray. It would definitely help. I hope your vitamin and protein levels are in order.

You can ask your doctor for a prescription of Darvacet, just to get you over the hump of the pred withdrawal. Darvacet is the safest of narcotic pain relievers - or even Tylonel #3. However, I can't help but wonder about your joints. Prednisone is used pretty often in people with arthritis so I'm wondering if your taper is making an arthritic problem come to a head. This may not be the case, just a consideration. Oh and be sure to drink lots of water. This can help replenish the body, moisten the joints and muscles.

I had pain radiating from my vaginal area down into the inside of my legs to my knees.  I even went to a GYN doctor.  She told me it was all from the inflamation in my rectum.  My family doctor gave me hydrocodone.  I only took them as needed but they sure worked.

Update 11/03/08...finally in remission!!  Hope I don't jinx myself.  Off the prednisone since 11/01/08...now see if I can stay off for longer than two weeks.  Other meds: 6MP (75 mgm), colazal (6 per day), Benicar and Toprol (high blood pressure meds), Probiotic (2 per day), fish oil capsule and multi-vitamin and calcium with vitamin D.
