ok i have been eating these fiberplus bars for alittle over a week. they seem to be bulking me up alot more but i have discomfort like gas and feeling constipated even though i'm have a bowl movement in the mornings. can fiber make you do this?

 i was diagnosed with uc on april.16,2003. had my sec. colonoscopy on aug.22,2007 came back normal, i also take nexium 40mg once a day for acid reflux.take one multivitamin a day,started taking one a day acidophilus probiotic.

Hospitalized (2nd time) in May 2008
Update 11/03/08...finally in remission!!  Hope I don't jinx myself.  Off the prednisone since 11/01/08...now see if I can stay off for longer than two weeks.  Other meds: 6MP (75 mgm), colazal (6 per day), Benicar and Toprol (high blood pressure meds), Probiotic (2 per day), fish oil capsule and multi-vitamin and calcium with vitamin D.

Yeah, it will take you a bit to adapt to the increase. It's usually a little easier on you by slowly increasing the fiber.

Make sure you up your water intake, which is a good idea regardless if using fibre supplementation or not since us IBDers are prone to dehydration...and yes, what you're experiancing is completely normal, just stick with it daily so your system will adjust to it quicker...it took my system 3 months to adjust to fibre supplement pills but it's been well worth it and I started around 5 yrs ago, my GI encouraged me to go the fibre supplement way and it's the best advice I've gotten so far from a doc.

thanks for all of your replies,i'm still gonna stick to this fiber thing. pb4 what fiber supplement do you take?

I use one called Prodiem, it's similar to metamucil caps...I'm in Canada where Prodiem seems to be a little more common than in the US, but some states do have it.
