I started to taper off Entocort enema in mid November last year after using it nightly for 7 weeks. I began with 1 enema in 3 nights for 2 weeks, then 1 enema in 4 nights for 2 weeks, and so on, until I used 1 Entocort enema weekly. On the nights I didn't use it I used Salofalk enema, which is supposed to be a maintenance medication for me.
When I went to 1 Entocort enema weekly I saw blood again in my BM, with some loose stool and left-side pain. It continued for a couple of days and I had to use it nightly again for 1 week. Now I started to taper it off again but I still need it at least twice a week.
My question is: can I go on like this for some time longer, or, should I phone my GI for advice? I have an appointment with her for mid March. Can I wait until then?
I feel much better than one year ago but I'm still not 100%. Urgency is my biggest issue.

How long were you without symptoms before you started tapering?  Maybe you tried to taper to quickly.

Actually I was still having some symptoms (like urgency and occasional blood) when my GI doctor asked me to stop Entocort enema and start with Salofalk enema. I had been using it nightly for 7 weeks at that time and she thought I had enough of it. She said I needed not taper.
I took quincy's advice instead and tapered it off slowly. But it seems that my body prefers it to Salofalk.
