Thank G-d - Prednisone then 6MP, Rowasa and Asacol brought remission
Now Asacol 4tabs 2x a day.
Reduced to 2tabs 2x a day. Soon had a very mild flare. Upped to 6 tabs 2x a day. Rowasa enemas nightly. Soon replacing that with Cortifoam (generic). Dr. says it's like shooting a mouse with an elephant gun....

I self diagnose myself with ADHD. I am extremely active and have in inordinate amount of energy. Also, I sometimes have a difficult time concentrating but I've never heard a link between UC and ADD.
Diagnosed when 13 and am now 25. Currently taking 100mg of 6mp, 60 mg of prednisone and 12 pills of asacol a day

I do not believe there is a link. I don't have ADD. However, my son does and probably my hubby but neither of them have UC.

I don't either think there's a connection. Though, I've done alot of research and self-diagnosed myself and have a friend in a Psychology program, who's gonna give me the test and evaluate it. I can compensate well for it, but in other areas. yikes.

Thnks for sharing...

I have ADD, was thrown on pills for most of my childhood and well into early adulthood. I still have issues with my father over some of this and I can't tell you how much grief I've caused for myself in various situations through out my life. Strattera (the drug company) tries to use that as part of their marketing ploy, digestive issues from stress of ADD. That drug was great, it caused me erectile disfunction and liver problems while I used it. Bitter? Just a tad!

There is definately a connection, make no mistake about it. But how you deal with these problems is a completely different matter. I say avoid pharmies at all costs if possible and keep your head in check, with whatever you need to do.

There have been many posts here in the past about "brain fog". Maybe that's really what you have, not ADD. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])
