Has anyone had the experience where your Remicade infusions just are not working as well as they use to? Is it possible to become immune to the medicine?

I've been on remicade for a few years now and it use to work great for me. Now i'm noticing that I cannot go the full 8 weeks, and it just doesn't seem to be working like it use to. For example, this past infusion before my 8 weeks were up i started having a small flare...two weeks after my infusion i'm still having symptoms.... blood, mucous, etc. It's like it just isn't working like it use to... or i've become even more sensitive to certain types of food than i use to be.

Anyone ever experience this with Remicade?

thanks for your help!

Yes, after a little over a year they have stopped working for me, I have been getting staph infections and sinus infections very often. My GI wants me to start on cimzia and consult a surgen, it sucks, I've really been thinking alot about the surgery I've lived with this for the last 12 years so I'm tired of it.

Remicade never really worked for me, and we only waited for 4 infusions to decide on surgery and my 5th was a last chance effort to get me through till my surgery...it was 4 weeks after my 4th. There was still very little difference and within four weeks from that infusion I was miserable and very glad to be having the surgery when I was. : )

My surgery was two weeks ago tomorrow and I feel wonderful...I'm still recovering, but being UC free is AMAZING! : )

I wish you the best of luck...I'm so sorry you're not seeing positive results anymore.
