This is the first time that I have prolonged severe nausea with UC. It has over a week now and I feel horribly. I have vomited a few times. The GI sent me Compazine --- just took one and so far no help????

Is it possible it's from the 6mp?  If so - try taking it at night so you can sleep through the worst of it.

I get random bouts of nausea and what works for me is peppermint tea. Also too a ginger tea might work.

i'm having issues with severe nausea when i have to poop. i think it's from the pain, but i've puked a dozen times over the past few weeks when i am on the can. it's awful. I feel a bit of nausea at times during the day but haven't puked then...but on the can look out. The doc gave me some anti-spasmatic to take for the pain etc...not sure it's really working. This is the 1st time in 20 years i've experienced this...

I take finigrn, but I have to take it at night and get at least 6 hrs of sleep...if I do take it during the day I have to take a quarter of one...it knocks me out. Anyone know of a nausea med. that doesnt have those side effects??? I am always nauseated!

I got really bad nausea when I was flaring - it was worst just before I went to the bathroom and I vomited heaps too. I was in hospital and they kept giving me injections to try make it go away, but nothing helped.
When I started taking pred the nausea went away but it's coming back sometimes now that the pred dose is getting lower. For me it seems to just be one of my standard symptoms

I have constant nausea from the Remicade and Methotrexate and Celexa I take, and some stomach conditions along with UC. I take the most wonderful drug on the market called Zofran. It melts on your tongue and tastes a little orangey - very nice flavour. The generic verstion is called Ondansetron. Get the 8mg dosage. Within minutes the nausea is gone. It is a drug that was designed for people taking chemotherapy.

If your doctor writes a script for Zofran it is very, very expensive. Make sure the script is for the generic version. Because my nausea comes on suddenly I have them stashed in the bathroom (for those BM's where you think you might throw up at the same time) and at work, in my purse... anywhere it might hit when least expected.

Presently on: 500 mg. Remicade every 4 weeks
                   15 mg. Methotrexate/injection weekly
                   12 Asacol daily

Yer...although I've not actually been vomiting I have felt nauseous all day/night since the weekend. I have taken milk of magnesia in the past which seems to settle the stomach, but as soon as it wears off I feel bad again!

Thanks guys-

The compazine is not that great-- annoying side effects. I am going to ask about Zofran. The doctor suggested I stop taking 6mp for three days to see if it is the culprit. If the nausea doesn't go away, then he said it is the UC causing it.
