Woo-hoo!  Monday and Tuesday I only had FOUR BM's and they've been getting progressively less watery!  And so far, nothing today...it's just 9am here, but since I've been flaring, I've ALWAYS had to go at least once in the morning before leaving for work.  The bleeding is really reduced, too.  I saw my GI on Monday afternoon and he was pleased with my progress.  He ordered some bloodwork, which came back showing my kidney and liver function were both normal and that I was slightly anemic, but no real surprise there.  The plan right now is to continue taking the meds as prescribed for now and to start weaning the Rowasa once I feel I'm "normal."  I see him again in a little over a month and we'll re-evaluate then.

It seems odd (thinking about how my BMs used to be) to be happy about four BMs in a day, but after having 15+, well, it really changes your perspective!  If I could completely get rid of the urgency, I'd be happy with four BMs a day.  I think this weekend while I'm at home I'm going to test the urgency...see if it's more in my head.  I think that it's been so bad for so long that now, anytime I feel I have to poo, I perceive it as being urgent, if that makes any sense.

Thanks again for all of the support and help.  You've all been so wonderful!

Symptoms began in November 2008, ~4 weeks after giving birth to my son.
Eased for ~3 weeks in December, possibly b/c of probiotic use?
Returned in January 2009 (with a vengeance), diagnosed with pancolitis on January 30.
Currently taking Asacol (400mg 4 pills 3x daily), Rowasa nightly, Culturelle probiotic, and Zoloft (25 mg).

Thanks, everyone!

sicklygirl, that's great that you feel like you're improving also. Maybe you need to update your sig?! :)

Good idea! I am not so hopeless anymore. Last time I was feeling better I had a relapse right when I thought I was in the clear. I hope I have better luck this time.

It takes patience with 5ASA meds if they work for you,...and since you're improving, hang tough. It's worth it.....I can attest to that fact after 20 years of using only 5ASA oral/rectal meds.

I had lots of ups and downs the first 2+ years until I got the hang of using the rectal meds earlier and earlier once I recognised symptoms.

Keep us posted.
